Additional carbon monoxide detectors to be installed at North Star HS, officials say
AFTERNOON UPDATE |SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — North Star School District officials are providing another update on the ongoing carbon monoxide testing at the high school following Thursday's incident that left dozens of students feeling ill.
Officials say the EPA has conducted additional testing overnight and throughout the day Friday.
To date, all air quality readings have been negative for any chemical or environmental conditions of concern inside the building.Investigators say that despite the negative readings, the school is planning to install additional carbon monoxide detectors within the building before students return to class on Monday.
Coroner IDs victim of fatal crash in Adams Township
2nd UPDATE:Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees has identified the victim of Wednesday night's fatal crash in Adams Township.
Authorities say 33-year-old Billy Burggraf, of South Fork, was traveling westbound on Locust Street, towards the Route 219 interchange, when she lost control of her vehicle.
Investigators say the vehicle then traveled through a grassy area before striking a lamp pole and a tree.

Crews respond to fire at Jim and Jimmies
CONEMAUGH TWP., Pa. (WJAC) — A fire broke out at the bar, Jim and Jimmies in Somerset County on Sunday night. The bar is located on Somerset Pike in Conemaugh Township.
According to dispatch, the call came in around 10:30 p.m. Fire crews on scene told 6 News the fire started due to a chemical reaction with dish towels.

Alabama Catholic archbishop asks district attorney to investigate now-defrocked priest
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — A little more than two years ago, as the nation was reeling from the COVID pandemic, Archbishop Thomas Rodi welcomed a new priest to the Catholic church and especially to those parishioners at Corpus Christi Church in Mobile, Alabama.

Clearfield County Fair board making changes to parade etiquette
Clearfield County, PA (WJAC) — The Clearfield County Fair is scheduled to start early next week with the official kickoff parade Monday. But this year, the fair board is making some changes as to what is acceptable on the parade route.
“Not throwing candy from a moving vehicle along the parade route,” says Clearfield County Fair Manager Greg Hallstrom.
It's a rule, fair officials say, that has been on the books for years, but hasn't been enforced until now.
Man facing felony charges after robbing local convenience store
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. — A Cambria County man is behind bars after robbing a local convenience store at gunpoint last month, police said.
According to a criminal complaint, police were called for a reported robbery with a weapon at the 7-Eleven on Fairfield Avenue in Johnstown on July 12.
Police said they were advised that a male had walked into the store, displayed a firearm, removed approximately $55 from the cash register and took a pack of cigars before fleeing the store towards J Street.
Multiple crews battle fire at auto repair shop in Altoona
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — According to Blair County Dispatch, multiple crews were on the scene of a structure fire late Monday night.
Dispatchers told 6 News the fire broke out on the 100 block of S Dartmouth Lane in Logan Township at a tire and auto repair shop, just after 11 pm.
No injuries were reported.
A fire marshal was called to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
One dead, three injured after vehicle accident in Butler County
One man is dead and three other people are injured, including two children, after a vehicle accident in Worth Township, Butler County, Friday, state police said.
According to a press release, Daniel Henn, 54, was driving the vehicle north on I-79 near mile marker 101 when the incident occurred.
State police said a 44-year-old female, a 6-year-old male and a 5-year-old female were passengers in the vehicle.
The press release states that Henn drove off the left side of the roadway for unknown reasons before veering back to the right side, crossing both northbound travel lanes.
