Bellefonte man sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison after pleading guilty to having 'sexual relations

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — A Bellefonte man has been sentenced to serve 2 to 4 years in state prison after pleading guilty to having a "sexual relationship" with a teenage girl. Last November, police charged Akile Parker following an investigation into accusations that he had engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl. Authorities say they discovered numerous sexually-explicit text messages between Parker and the victim. Police say the victim's mother allegedly confronted him about the accusations, at which time he denied them.

Illinois lawmakers end session without addressing a Chicago Bears stadium

(TCS) — The Chicago Bears will have to wait on public assistance for a new stadium project. The Illinois legislature, which ended spring session early Wednesday, won’t act on anything regarding a new Bears stadium until this fall at the earliest, if at all. The Bears unveiled the project in April with a $4.7 billion price tag, which included a domed stadium and surrounding infrastructure. Illinois taxpayers would be asked to cover about $2 billion.

Paint Township disbands police department

PAINT TOWNSHIP - A Somerset County police department recently shut down and now it's up to state police to keep the streets safe. Paint Township supervisor Lewis Clark said the decision was officially made to disband the department after the last police officer resigned in the past week. Clark said this wasn't a personnel issue or a union issue. He said this was a financial decision to discontinue the police department.

Steelers release safety Keanu Neal following failed physical

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Thursday that they are releasing veteran safety Keanu Neal following a failed physical exam. Neal signed with the Steelers last offseason and played in nine games in 2023. He recorded 50 total tackles and one interception, prior to being placed on IR in November. Neal was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2016. He also previously played for the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Two final search warrants show gun, three knives found in Kohberger's home

CHESTNUTHILL TWP, MONROE CO, (WOLF) — The final set of two search warrants, unsealed Thursday, revealed everything police discovered in Bryan Kohberger’s family home, including a .40-caliber handgun and at least three knives. In the early morning hours of December 30th, Pennsylvania State Police raided his home on Lamsden Drive in Chestnut Hill Township. Kohberger, a 28-year-old former doctoral student at Washington State University, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and burglary in connection with the stabbing deaths in Moscow, Idaho.

Daisytown Sportsmen's Club hosts Glock shooting competition

JOHNSTOWN -- The Daisytown Sportsmen's Club, along with the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation, held a competitive shoot today for all ages. It's the third annual "Fire on the Mountain" event. Gunfire is a welcome sound to those at the club. Once a year the club hosts people of all ages to compete, or even learn how to shoot in a fun, friendly and safe manner. Day long standoff damages family business

BARNETT Twp., JEFFERSON Co.--A day long standoff with police ended peacefully Sunday morning when the suspect surrendered. Police said John Macbeth is facing charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person. Saturday around 8:30 a.m., police responded to an intoxicated man with a gun, holed up in his house. Police said he refused to talk to police or come out. Michael Macbeth is the lifelong friend and cousin of John Macbeth.
