Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — During Saturday's girls varsity basketball game against Meyersdale, Shade junior Jenna Muha set a new school, single-game scoring record with 48 points. The previous record of 47 was set by Michelle Chelednik during the 1987-88 season. Earlier this season, Muha eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for her high school career. Muha's 48-point game helped the Panthers defeat the Red Raiders on Saturday by a score of 66-43.

Driver rescued after tractor trailer discovered over embankment in Centre County

The driver of a tractor trailer was rescued after a 2 hour extrication in Rush Township Saturday evening after his vehicle went down an embankment, officials said. According to a Facebook post by the Hope Fire Company, crews from the Philipsburg Fire Department and Port Matilda Fire Company were dispatched around 7:40 p.m. to reports of a vehicle accident with unknown injuries on the 2400 block of Upper Flat Rock Road.

Former teacher charged with institutional sexual assault in Jefferson County

PUNXSUTAWNEY - State police in Punxsutawney have charged a former teacher at Soaring Heights School in DuBois with institutional sexual assault. According to police, an investigation discovered that Megan Bartley, 29, of Anita, was having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy at a house in McCalmont Township. Police said the relationship was going on prior to Bartley being fired by the school. The relationship had been going on for several months, and the encounters happened at the home in Jefferson County, according to police.

One injured after tire crashes into car on Interstate 80

CLEARFIELD CO, Pa (WJAC) — One person was injured Tuesday when a truck lost a tire that crashed through the windshield of a car on Interstate 80, fire officials said. According to the Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Company, crews were called to the crash, which happened near mile marker 116. Human remains found in Allegheny County identified as missing 67-year-old woman

PLUM BOROUGH, Pa. (WJAC) — Allegheny County police say the human remains found at anillegal dumping site in Plum Borough have been identified as those of a 67-year-old woman who was reported missing a year ago. According to police, the remains belong to Elizabeth Wiesenfeld. She was reported missing by Whitehall police on April 30, 2019. Authorities say a Plum Borough officer was patrolling an area known for illegal dumping and off-road vehicle activity when he found a suspicious bag containing the human remains.
