Delivering remarks at a solemn remembrance ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, Biden said each generation must ensure the sacrifice of the country's service members is not in vain. “Freedom has never been guaranteed,” Biden said under gray skies in the memorial amphitheater.

Israeli forces regroup in Gaza as Rafah braces for expanded offensive

RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — The exodus of Palestinians from Gaza's last refuge accelerated Sunday as Israeli forces pushed deeperinto the southern city of Rafah. Israel also pounded the territory's devastated north, where some Hamas militants have regrouped in areas the military said it had cleared months ago. Rafah is considered Hamas' last stronghold. Some 300,000 of the more than 1 million civilians sheltering there have fled the city following evacuation orders from Israel, which says it must invade to dismantle Hamas and return scores of hostages taken from Israel in the Oct.

Penn State football players attend fire company fundraiser

An event for the ‘Fuel the Cause’ fundraiser was held today at Nittany MinitMart's Headquarters. Former Penn State linebacker LaVar Arrington and current linebackers Curtin Jacobs and Abdul Carter attended the event to support the cause. Organizers of the fundraiser say two cents are being donated for every gallon of gas sold at Nittany MinitMart in April and May. One cent comes from Nittany MinitMart and the other comes from PA skills.

'Thrill kills:' Juveniles plead guilty in Cambria County deer poaching case, PAGC says

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Pennsylvania wildlife officials say multiple juveniles have pleaded guilty to illegally killing 10 deer in Cambria County last fall. The Pennsylvania Game Commissionposted earlier this week that the juveniles recently entered pleas to felony unlawful killing or taking of big game. Authorities say the investigation began in the fall of 2023 when wildlife officials received multiple reports of deer being shot at night, in the Dysart area of Cambria County.

Altoona man accused of repeatedly molesting 10-year-old girl

Altoona, PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Blair County say an Altoona man is facing charges after being accused of repeatedly molesting a 10-year-old girl. Police say 32-year-old Christopher Roberts allegedly admitted to assaulting the girl approximately 5 to 6 times, including while the girl was sleeping. Police say the investigation into Roberts began when the victim's mother, who lives with him, reportedly witnessed one of the assaults. Authorities say Roberts told investigators that "

Former Bedford DA elected to Bedford County Republican chair

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Former Bedford County district attorney Bill Higgins says he's been elected the next chair of the Bedford County Republican Committee. Higgins served as the county's district attorney from 2004 to 2018, which is when he was charged for misconduct related to trading lighter sentence recommendations for sexual favors from drug dealers and their friends. Higgins pled guilty to the charges in exchange for avoiding jail time.

PA gym owner risks jail time to keep business alive

HERMITAGE, Pa. (NBC News Channel) — A Pennsylvania gym owner is risking jail time in an effort to keep his small business alive. Joe Joseph, the owner of Prep Training and Fitness System, was cited by the Hermitage Police on May 8. Officers showed up with the district attorney and issued citations for violating administrative code and in violation of the disease prevent and control law. Those violations could cost up to $400.
